If you came here from the Swirlydoos blog, then you are on the right track. If not, go back to Swirlydoos' blog and start from there. We have some amazing projects for you to see today !!
This kit is aptly named Inspiration because it is beyond inspiring! It was a complete pleasure to work with this kit, and I am still playing with it and have about 5 more projects planned- it's that good! I will use up every scrap of this one!
"Be You Tiful" LayoutI jumped right in making this page. I will tell you a little about it, but I also did an "Anatomy of a Layout" of this page, which is on the the Swirlydoos forum sometime very soon today (Wednesday). The anatomy has been a challenge for me in the past because I am lucky enough to get all of the add ons that compliment the main kit, and I love to add that swirly goodness on every project. However, this one came together quite easy because the main kit ROCKS.
Lots of layers on this layout! I cut the artisan shape from two different papers in the kit using a template from an old piece of die cut paper, and added border punch strips around the edges and faux stitching. The black swirls are cut from a Memory Box die. I used pop dots on the alphas that were cut from one of the pieces of paper.
"Come Away with Me" Altered Hat Box
I bought this hat box from Michaels a while back, and these Prima Romance Novel papers are perfect for it!
I covered the box with the pink paper and used some punched border strips. The lace (Darice) and pearls (Kaisercraft) around the box top are from my stash that I wanted to use to add some texture. I cut a tiny hole in the lace to add the bottle cap charm.
The paper layers on the top are both cut outs from patterned paper, and notecards from the main kit. I used a Cherry Lynn flourish die for the black and green die cuts under the flowers. I used a small Memorybox die for the small flourishes bordering the box, connecting them with crystals from the bling add on kit. I also used one of those gems on the key.
This resin frame is not in the kit- It's a small photo frame I found in the clearance bin at Michaels. I used some gold Rub and Buff to give it an antiqued look. The images in the frame are washi tape from the embellishment add on, balloon and saying from a notecard in the main kit, and a dictionary page from the technique kit. I filled the frame with Ice Resin, also from the technique kit.
I plan on using this box to hold a mini album.
Sketch Page: Untitled
I tried to follow the clustering and layering from the sketch. Here is a close up of it:
Here is a close up of the paper that I covered with a couple of coats of white Distress Stain, crumpled while damp, and let dry before inking on the folds with black and blue chalk inks.
"Good Things" Jar
I got the idea for this project from Pinterest: the post said to keep a mason jar out and when something good happens, write it on a small piece of paper and put it in the jar to read later. I love that! But, I can't just have a plain jar sitting on MY counter! It must be pretty, so I altered it!
I made a border punch strip and glued it to a piece of paper 12X4. I made faux stitching at the bottom. It reached mostly around the jar, but it is a little short, so I laced the paper ends together. (See below) Once the paper was on, I just put the title plaque on- It's from the bling add on. I used white Distress stain on the chipboard, then used a water pen with pink and green Magical Micas. I used the black flowers from the add on kit on the back of the chipboard. I used washi tape on the lid, and added some tulle from my stash.
Here is a close up of the key ring:
