Submissions for the Prima July 2016 Challenges

Hi, everyone! I wanted to share some projects I've made the past couple of weeks. I love a good challenge, and my favorite ones are the Prima monthly challenges!

First up, I tried the Prima Product Pick (PPP). Here's the super fun summer palette:

This was a real challenge for me because I don't really love red or yellow, especially together, so this was a real challenge! :) I thought I'd try it out using the Prima watercolor coloring book and confections. Here's what I came up with:

I ended up using the oil pastels for the yellow flowers. I also used the art alchemy paints in rusty red to paint tiny dots on the yellow flowers and the word "beauty." The blue words were painted with the art alchemy deep waters paint. I finished off the color palette adding the brown by placing the watercolor paper in a beautiful Prima wood frame. I would have never thought I would like these colors together, but it's growing on me. :)

Next, I used the Build a Page sketch.

I followed the sketch, but I made some adjustments: I rotated the design vertically, and didn't use stars, but circles. I added some journaling at the top. I used the new Heaven Sent collection, as well as some Prima vines and alphas.

This is the first of many layouts going into this little man's first year book, and I'll be using the Heaven Sent collection!

Lastly, I tried my hand at the newest Prima challenge for cards and tags.

I love this sketch, and I knew I wanted to use the Heaven Sent collection because I'm not using the girly pinks for my boy book, but it's too cute not to use!

I love how the sketch showed the large layers, so I decided to curl mine for dimension. I love the look! I added a Prima doily die cut to the middle of the card, and I misted the paper with Color Blooms sprays in cotton candy and peony to kind of blend all of the pinks from the papers and flowers I chose. I fussy cut the baby and the "Baby" title from the papers and popped them up with foam tape. The heart resin is misted with the pink sprays that I used on the doily. I stuck in some of the vellum ephemera under the rolled paper, and added some of the pink crystals on the doily.

Thanks for taking a look at my projects! I hope you get a chance to play along with these fun challenges too!
