We have some absolutely beautiful scrapbook projects for you to see today !!

This kit is to die for! I rarely work with YELLOW! It's not that I don't like it, per se, it's just that I rarely come across it in an elegant, sophisticated paper line, but Authentique did a fabulous job this beautiful line, and of course Swirlydoos adds the perfect embellishments and everything else to make it AMAZING! It's been a blast to work with! Here are some projects I have made with the kit so far.

"See the Beauty in Everyday Things" Layout

This is based on the monthly sketch by Beggahuna. You can find out more details on how to join us for the sketch challenge on our challenge forums!

I made this layout first. I love to start working with the kits with the monthly sketch. And, I have to admit, the yellow was a tiny bit intimidating, so I wanted to pair it with the teal accent color. I treated the teal paper with a crackle stencil and grey distress ink, then added some gold splatters with the mist from the mediums add on, and then add more with watered down black and white gesso. I used both gessos and also some Shimmerz Inklingz on the flowers and also the die cut vines, which is out die add on this month! Here's a closeup of the vines and some of the flowers:

I decided to use doilies from my stash for this sketch, and I thought it was the perfect pairing with the pretty yellow lace paper. I fussy cut that border that you see using two borders and gluing them next to each other, then added the black pearls from the embellishment add on kit, two I also cut that heart out from the coordinating sticker sheet, also from the embellishment kit. I polished off the layout with blue and yellow bling.

And, the picture is of my Owen with the best ABA therapist EVER, Miss Courtney! So sorry that we couldn't bring her to Las Vegas with us!

Altered Butterfly Decor

There is an awesome shop about 5 minutes away from my house that sells wood decor for you to decorate yourself, and it's AWESOME! My sister-in-law invited me to a class there when we first moved back to Vegas,  and I fell in love with the whole store! I had to buy this butterfly decor, and the Sunkissed kit is perfect for it.

I kept the design pretty simple- I thought the colors and textures were enough to keep this project pretty and interesting. I colored all of the pieces with grey distress stain in case any wood would show through, which you can see on the stick. Then I covered the butterfly and block with paper. I also lined the block with some of the velvet lace from the embellishment add on. The sentiment was on one of the notecards from embellishment add on that I cut up to go with the design, and added a bunch of flowers from the main kit, as well as the flower add on.

Here's a nice view of the side- I added laces that we have had in past kits to outline both the wings (in white), and the body (in grey and black), which adds to the elegance of the piece. For the middle, I used the yellow Petaloo flowers from the flower add on- even though they are the same size, I made two of them two smaller sizes by gathering them up and cinching them with wire to keep the smaller, more dense shape. Also, the black flourishes are from a past kit, but they make perfect butterfly wings!

"Be Happy" Layout

My creative juices have been flowing a little slow this past week. We've hit some major roadblocks with my oldest and getting him into school. It's been really stressful, and it seems like we have quite an uphill battle ahead. I'll spare you the details, but just know that the struggle for getting a special needs child what they need and deserve is REAL. It put me in quite a mood, so I need some scrap therapy, and I made this layout of myself as a reminder to BE HAPPY. There's a tons of journaling that I'll be writing on the back of this layout!

Again, this is another somewhat simple layout for me. I used some scraps from my other projects rather than cut into some unused paper, which I let dictate my design. I also had this circle that I got a long time ago- some chipboard outline from another piece that I wrapped with wire ribbon just to see what it would look like. It's been sitting on my desk for some time, and it just went well with this design. The black swirls were made with the stencil from the mediums add on- LOVE IT!

I also wanted to use the Bo Bunny metallic rub ons, so I added the border, and also the script at the bottom. And, learn from my mistake- those rubons do NOT take well to chipboard! I thought I would use one of the larger ones to add to my "happy" title, and it would have, but it covered the entire piece, including the holes. Luckily, it did rub off as easily as it rubbed on! I think it looks better black anyway! And, by the way, that title is a Creative Embellishments chipboard, so if you don't already have it, and you are hopping along, you just might win the CE prize and be able to snag one for yourself!

Also, did you see those butterflies? Those are made by our fellow design team member, Angelica, and she sells them in her wonderful etsy shop!

In this close up, you can see the flowers- the large yellow one is from the flower add on- I rolled the edges to give it more dimension. I also added some Petaloo from my stash, as I went overboard with the flowers on other projects, so I am falling a little short at this point!

Altered Bottles

Our project add on kit this month is so AWESOME! There are bottle and jars to alter. I chose to start with the bottles:

I was totally excited about the finish on these bottles! I love to experiment- I wasn't sure what the end result would be, but I couldn't be happier with it! I used the chalk paint that came with the kit, as well as some crackle paint in lieu of the Crackle Accents, along with the mists from the mediums kit, and some other paints from my stash.

Here's a closeup of one of the backs of the bottles:

I'll be doing a video tutorial on how you can get this same finish in just a few weeks in September, so be on the look out!
