Altered Bottle for Tresors De Luxe

Hi, everyone! Today I'm sharing an altered bottle I made using some laces, flowers, and a resin piece that you can buy in the Tresors De Luxe Etsy shop.

The focal point of this bottle is a Prima oval resin frame from this set in the Etsy shop that I embossed using several different powders.

This is the back side of the bottle, and it a better view of the lace I used.

This is what the lace trim (LA-106), looks like before I cut it up and misted it with blue spray and used brown distress ink on it.

And here is the closeup of the vine from my stash that I added some white shabby chic roses to balance the colors I used on this bottle.

Thanks for having a look! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Altered Tissue Box Holder for Tresors De Luxe

Hello! It's Rae with you today, and I'm sharing a tissue box holder that I picked up at my local big box craft store.  I altered this one for my scrap space.

On the top of the box, I added some "light blue chiffon flowers" from the Etsy shop, and a piece of the "lace venice trim with butterflies" that I cut out of the strip.

The entire box is lined with "black venice trim LA-142", which was the perfect size to create this dramatic effect.

Here in this close up, you can see that I added some blue rhinestones to the trim.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my project today!

Two Layouts and a Card for Blue Fern Studios

Hello, everyone!  Today I'm sharing some projects I've made this month for Blue Fern Studios.

"Wonder" Card

For this card, I used a couple of sheets of paper of the Blue Fern Garden line, Parlour and Timeless. I used a light brown distress ink to give it the aged look.

In this closeup, you can see the four pieces of chipboard I used, each treated in a different way.
The bird is from the "Little Birds" set is simply colored with brown archival ink. The title, "Wonder" from "Winter Titles" set was primed with white paint, then I randomly placed light blue embossing powder so some of the white would show through, then I lightly covered the whole piece with a light brown distress ink. The foliage peeking out under the flowers are remnants I had form some "Layering Stems" that painted white and lightly misted with an olive green mist.

For the "Majestic Frame," I covered the whole piece with an embossing medium and sprinkled brown, gold, and blue embossing powders. I repeated the process three times to get nice coverage.

"Cherish" Layout

For this layout, I used papers from the Ombre Dreams collection, along with some green cardstock.

I used the "Blue Fern Frame" for the focus of my design. I treated this piece by spraying it with a brown mist, letting it dry, then tracing the details with dimensional paint to create a look somewhat reminiscent of a gilded metal look. I finished the look by spraying the whole piece again with the brown spray to get into the little crevices of the dimensional paint.

I used green dimensional paint and poured purple and coral embossing powders over the entire "Cherish" piece while the paint was still wet. Then, I used a heat tool, and overdid it so the paint would bubble up for this dimensional distressed look.

"Key to my Heart" Layout

I used papers from both the Blue Fern Garden and Ombre Dreams collections, picking out light blue and light brown tones, along with some cardstock.

In this closeup, you can see the paper that I stamped with a script stamp to alter the look of it.

I treated all of the pieces with gesso.  On the "Ket to my Heart" title and key, I used two shades of brown distress ink.

On the "Large Roman Clock Set" I used various distress and chalk inks.

For the "Wild Flourish Bundle" I sprayed it with an ivy mist to create drops, then used more light brown distress ink.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my projects today. Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Blogger's Hop!

I am so honored to have been nominated as a Creative Blogger by my dear scrappy pal, Tracey Gregory. We have been friends for quite some time, meeting on the forums on the Swirlydoos Kit Club website. We are joining up as a chain of fun blog hop tours where so many of us will get to meet new bloggers, get new inspiration and connect with blogs that will open up our creativity. This hop is sure to get your mojo going!

Here are the four questions I'm answering today.

1. What am I working on?

Right now I am putting the finishing touches on my monthly projects for the Blue Fern Studio design team, which I will be sharing on the 20th of this month!

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

This is a TOUGH question to answer! I don't really think about my projects being different from others, but I've been told I have a distinct style? I like to use LOTS of embellishments on my pages, and I adore layers, textures, and distressing. I prefer an elegant and sophisticated style as opposed to a "cutesy" look most of the time.

3. Why do I create what I do?

Scrapbooking is a HUGE part of my life. Not a day goes by that I don't sit at my desk and work on or plan a project. I love the creative outlet, and I enjoy the process of making pretty things. :) Even though I love to share my ideas, I really just scrapbook or alter projects for myself- if I like it, then I am happy.

4. How does your creating process work?

It depends! When I am making a project for a design team assignment, I start the process thinking about how I want to use the products, then I will add a picture that coordinates with the products, if it's a layout. When I am making something just for myself, I typically choose a picture that inspires me, and go from there. I am not methodical at all! My goal with a layout is to always draw attention to the picture first, so I will play a lot with a design to make sure the picture is what people see first. The best tip I ever received about your creating process is to take pictures of your project as you go, so you can decide on the best placement in your design. (Thank you, Robin Schelin!)

And now for my nominations:

The following three ladies are dear friends who inspire me, all of whom I have met through the forums on the Swirlydoos Kit Club website.

Kim is an incredible source of inspiration. She has a beautiful style and scraps her life and travels in an elegant way, and I admire her ability to infuse her mixed media skills on her projects. I'm so thrilled to be designing with her for Swirlydoos kit club.

Andie has an amazing knack for adding mixed media to her layouts. I love her spunky, grungy, modern style. She really knows how to work with color and texture. Her sense of design is truly unique and inspiring.

If you love texture and grunge, then you surely know Lynne! This woman can make a canvas like no one's business and her designs are stunning. She is the queen of textures, mixing fabrics, flowers, and mixed media in an incredible way!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog today! And, be sure to check out these ladies too!

Oh, my! Wistful Blues is so delightful! I have soooo many more projects I want to make with this kit, but here are my first two.

"Art" Altered Clipboard

I LOVE this little clipboard! This is going on the door of my new scraproom when I move! I used primarily the Wistful Blues project kit, with a handful of other things from this kit collection, including the main kit.

Here are some closeups:

Just look at that BEAUTIFUL chipboard frame by Blue Fern Studios!

I made this clipboard when I was at Camp Swirlydoos last week. I have a short video, but it's not my usual style with me talking- it was WAY too noisy for any commentary.
Here it is:

"It's a Beautiful Life" Layout

This layout is based on the Wistful Blues sketch. I used on of the new Prima masks form the embellishment add on with distress ink in the background. The blue lace at the top and bottom are from my stash, as well a couple of the flowers in the clusters. The brown leave scrolls are from the cardstock add on, cut with a Crafty Ann die. I inked the butterflies with blue chalk ink and wiped off the excess so that the white accents had a blue color. The "Beautiful" piece was embossed several times with different inks to create a patina look.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my projects and three-minute video!

You have until midnight, eastern time, on Thursday, 8/14 to complete the hop. Winners will be announced on the Swirlydoos Blog on 8/15. In order to qualify to win here is what you need to do:
