Allow me to share with you, JOYEUX NOEL:

And the amazing add ons:

Well, Krissy always designs the most fabulous Christmas kits,  and Joyeux Noel is NO EXCEPTION! I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! I love the classic colors, especially the GOLD! Here are a few projects that I did:

Joy Layout (Based on the sketch)

This is our lovely sketch this month:

And, here's my take on it:

I cut the tree from the Core'dinations cardstock with my Cameo, and sanded it for the distressed look. I used a mask and the gold Croco paint form the mediums kit to get the "snow" effect. I got the image off of Google images when I was looking for vintage Christmas post cards. There was no one to credit the picture to. :(

Believe Layout

It's my turn to do the Swirlydoos "Anatomy of a Layout" feature, where a designer creates a layout using only the main kit, and this is it. I took this picture of my littlest man two years ago. For step by step details, check out the Anatomy thread of the Swirlydoos forums.

Gold Gift Box

This box is the inspiration for the Twelve Days of Christmas Contest for today (the 5th). I used the punch board from the project kit to create the box.

12 Days of Christmas Gift Box Decor

So this is my project that I made showcasing the project kit add on:

And, I have a video tutorial that features some tips on how to use the gift box punch board and how I made the stacking boxes:

Thanks for checking out my projects!

Swirlydoos Contest: 12 Days of Christmas: DAY ONE!

Good morning! Welcome to day one of our "12 Days of Christmas Contest"! This contest is open to EVERYONE, using any supplies. For the next twelve days, our designers are going to give you an assignment to complete. We have tags, bags, boxes, and some other projects to share with you as examples for the assignments. Our plan is to post these assignments EARLY (4 am, EST), so you have time to complete the project. All projects are due by Midnight, EST the day the project is posted to the Swirlydoos Contest Gallery. We will also be chatting about the contest on our boards in the "Contests" section, so join us there!

Let's get started!

DAY ONE: RED, SANTA, METAL! Tag

Your Assignment: Create a TAG incorporating the color red, an image of Santa, and a piece of metal. You may add more colors and elements, if you wish.

Here's an example to inspire you to get to the scrap table:

Your tag does not need to look anything like this. All you need is the red, Santa, and metal, If your Santa is wearing red, then you don't need to put any more red, unless you want too. :)

For this tag, I used the Tim Holtz tag and tie die, and the frame and banner are also Tim Holtz sizzlits and stamp set. The metal is also from Timmy. My paper is from IOD, and the berries and flower are Petaloo. The holly trim is May Arts. The bingo number and the trim on the bottom are just from my stash- I can't remember where I got them!

Make your tag, and upload it to the gallery in the contest section by midnight (EST), TONIGHT! The winner will be posted later in the day. Good luck, and have fun!!!!!

Autumn Rose Mediums Add-on Tutorial

I hope you are all having a lovely Saturday! This week, I asked for some suggestions for video topics from our subscribers, and one of them was showing what you could do with the mediums that come in our latest kit add-on: the mediums add on. So, today, I will share with you some way you can use the mediums we got in the add-on with the Autumn Rose collection.

So, I spent the evening playing around with the Heidi Swapp Color Shine in white, the Viva Croco Paint, and the Lindy's embossing powder. Viva Paper Soft also came in the kit, but I already made a video based on that medium, which you can find HERE.

But, here is where you can see the new video about the rest of the mediums:

Hopefully, this will be useful for getting started using these mediums!

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!!!

Presenting Autumn Rose!

When I saw this paper, I fell in LOVE with it. It's so perfect for sophisticated, feminine projects. I immediately knew I would scrap the pics from a photo shoot some of the Swirly Girls did at Swirly Camp this past summer. So far, I have two done, but plan to do more!

"Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History" Layout

This is my layout I made based on the sketch:

So, this is a pic of me and fellow Swirly Girl, Kim. It looks like we are up to no good, huh? Well, there was a little plaque that had the saying, "Well behaved women rarely make history" at the retreat, and I knew that just had to be the title of this layout! I used a faux stitching technique for the border. The butterflies are from Angelica's Etsy shop.

"True Beauty" Layout

The lovely lady in this pic is fellow Swirly Girl, Sherri. Sherri is a wonderful person inside and out. I treasure the time I get to spend with her at Swirly Camp! We had such a great time with our photo shoot, and this is one of my favorite pics taken that day!

I went flower crazy on this layout- I love the look of the flowers on the paper peeking out underneath the actual flower son the page because it creates such fantastic dimension. The vine, butterflies and pins are Angelica's Etsy shop.

Christmas Cards Project Add On

Getting your Christmas cards made early is wonderful, and this year, we decided it would nice to help you get a jump on them by offering a card add on in November. The card toppers from Hot off the Press are perfect for creating beautiful cards in a snap!

Here are a few I did:

And, just to show you how simple they are to make in minutes, here's a video that I made on how to make the cards above.

You have until midnight, eastern time, on Wednesday 11/6 to complete the hop. Winners will be announced on the Swirlydoos Blog on Thursday 11/7. In order to qualify to win here is what you need to do:

Welcome to Swirlydoos' October Kit Reveal Blog Hop Block Party!!

If you came here from Lumin'arte's blog, then you are on the right track. If not, go back to Swirlydoos' blog and start from there. We have some amazing projects for you to see today !! Make sure to leave a comment on all of the blogs for a chance to win!!! Check out Swirlydoos on Facebook and Like Us!!!

Our October collection is simply TO DIE FOR! I LOVE the colors- perfect for end-of-summer and fall layouts alike. I just adore getting Swirlydoos kits because I can always expect to get the latest and greatest in the scrappy world! Take a gander at the collection below:

If you are a subscriber, your kit is either in your hands or on it's way to your doorstep! If not, check the Boutique to see if you can snag a main kit and the add ons!

I jumped right in with this kit as I always do, using our fabulous monthly sketch:

"Fly" Layout
As soon as I got my hands on this kit, I knew I had to use the Kaisercraft Basecoat paper. I just can't get enough of these wood prints! I cut three strips, distressed them, and glued them to the fabulous polka dot paper. I also used many of the "noteworthy" die cuts from the embellishment add on for most of the other layers.

"Hopes and Dreams" Dresser

Ever since I saw the Kaisercraft Curiosity line, I've been dying to get it! I was so happy when Krissy decided to pair that with the brand new "Mini Tall Boy" off the page project! Here's what I came up with:

That mini bell jar or clioche is from my stash. It's made by Melissa Frances. I bought a bunch of these for cheap at an expo, and I just new I had to put one on the dresser.

The lace is also from my stash. I cut part of it so the top drawer would still be functional.

The ivy is a Cottage Cut die. I used white cardstock from the cardstock add on, and colored it with Perfect Pearls Mist and Lindy's Magical Micas in sea green, then put on some moss green Paper Soft on the edges.

I used the Prima gate stencil on the back.

Check out my video I made while assembling and adorning this dresser:

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what our design team did with this kit! Thanks for hopping along with us!

Welcome to Swirlydoos' September Kit Reveal Blog Hop Block Party!!

If you came here from Prima's blog, then you are on the right track. If not, go back to Swirlydoos' blog and start from there. I hope you are enjoying yourself as you peruse through the designers' blogs and seeing what the manufacturers are sharing with you! Make sure to leave a comment on all of the blogs for a chance to win!!! Check out Swirlydoos on Facebook and Like Us!!!

Here's a peek at the September collection, Gilted Pleasure. Surely you notice the gold highlights, paired with fantastic vintage blues, yellows, and browns. This is such a fun collection to work with!

Altered Cigar Box

This month our technique kit is featuring Mod Melts resin and molds! Here is the project I created to showcase what you can do with these fabulous resin pieces when you finish them. On the top of my cigar box, there is a bee on top of the clock that I painted with black gesso and Inka Gold.
Here's a side view of the box:

The fleur d lis border is also a resin piece I made from the mold in the tech kit.

Here's another closeup so you can see the bee better.

I have all sorts of tips for getting the Mod Melts to come out well in my video, and I also share some tips for coloring/painting them so you can customize them for ANY project.

MOD MELTS VIDEO TUTORIAL

"This Moment" Layout

This is a picture of me and my husband on our wedding day in 1999. (I'm feeling OLD.) For this layout I used only the main kit except for the leaf behind the photo that was a cream color, but I misted it with Glimmer Mist in "Piece of Heart". This was a limited edition color, and some of the profits went to Autism research, a cause that is very close to my heart.

Every month at Swirlydoos, one designer makes an anatomy page, creating a step-by-step picture tutorial, and it's my turn, and this is it. To see this tutorial, CLICK HERE, and then find the "Gilted Pleasure Anatomy" thread!

"When it Rains" Layout

I fell in love with the September sketch this month, designed by Beggahuna!

This is my take on the sketch:

I was inspired to use this sketch for a layout I've had in my head for a few weeks now. I found the quote on Pinterest, and it made my cry. The pics are of me and my oldest son, Owen, who is 10. Owen has Autism, and right now Autism really has a hold on him. We are going through the hardest time we have been through with him since he had heart surgery and a feeding tube placement when he was six months old. We've had ups and downs with him, but this is a very low time. We are working very hard to get him the help he needs, but it's also crushing our spirits at the same time. When I saw this quote, it reminded me to keep pushing on, and try to find the good things.

On this layout, I used Memory Box dies- the fence and the foliage. The mask is Heidi Swapp- I used it with the modeling cream from the Mediums add on. I distressed the edges of everything with Viva Paper Soft.

"Paper Dolls" Layout

This is a layout I made based on an old Beggahuna sketch. I went Paper Soft CRAZY on this layout! I LOVE Paper Soft. I was so happy to find out it was part of the Mediums add on! I used the Prima crackle mask on the background, and used the Paper Soft to distress and color everything on this page, except the flowers- those were perfect as is! THANK YOU, PRIMA! Even though the yellow is really bright, I loved the pop of color it gave the layout against the "dusty" hues from the papers.

The foliage dies are rom Craft-Ann. The lace, doily, and blue roses are from my stash.

The picture is the group photo from Swirly Camp 4, the funnest YET! I titled it "Paper Dolls" because our camp was hosted at an amazing retreat called "The Paper Doll House" outside of Chicago.

Thanks for having a peek at my projects. (It's been a LOOOONG hop, hasn't it!)
