More Swirlydoos Projects with the November Kit

I have to say that I love the Nouveau kit this month. There are so many beautiful papers and the blue is perfect. Here are some more projects that I made with November's kit:

At first, I wasn't too sure if I would like the gelatos that came in the technique kit, but I have discovered how versatile they are and you can really use them with anything! I know that they are super "blendable" and great on canvases, but I always like to see what else can be done with different mediums. I tried out a lot of different ways to use them, but I think my favorite way is to combine them with mists. For these to tags that I made, I mixed them with the Smooch Spritz that also came in this month's technique kit to get the background for my tags. AND, if you would like more details, I have a video tutorial  how to create this background on the You Tube

"Inspire" Layout

I had a lot of 12X12 "scraps" from the paper left over from my wall hanging that I made (see post below), which were perfect for adding lots of layers for other layouts. the Dusty Attic frame is not in the kit, but it just went so well with my design, that I had to add it. I painted it with Silks paints, one from the kit, and the green  is "Fern" that I already had. The black paper is punched with the Martha Stewart Embroidery Deep Edge punch. I used Perfect Pearls to trace around the paper under the photo.

"Life is But a Dream" Layout

Again, more use of my gutted paper from the wall hangings. This layout is based on this month's sketch, with WAY more layers. The butterflies are from Angelica's etsy shop. the dainty vines are from a Memory Box corner die.

Thanks for looking!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I am super excited that I have moved to the Swirlydoos Education Team with Lynne and Miranda!!!! This is a wonderful opportunity to do something new, and I am LOVING IT! I want to give a special shout out to Lynne- THANK YOU for all of your tips and tricks on making videos. There is a link to my first one below. I'm sure I'll get better, but this one is kind of LOOONG. So, this is what I did with the technique kit this month, along with the paper and other goodies from the main kit and add ons:

"Never Give Up" Wall Hanging

The November technique kit features Faber-Castell Gelatos, which are basically a creamy pigment, super blendeable media. It was really fun to play around with these and find out how I like to use them. After trying many different things with them, I found a couple of techniques that are fun, and unique.
One of those techniques is applying Distress Ink to the gelatos to give them a different hue. In the picture below, I used this technique below on the cardboard (exposed on the edge of the wall hanging) with blue gelatos and brown ink. Neither color gets lost!

The other way I used the gelatos is to create a mixture of them with Distress Ink again, and adding Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer (It also comes in the kit!) to make a liquid, which I then used for soaking my wood flourish. You can see it has a creamy, translucence to it.
I also explain in my video o how to do this type of heavy distressing, so I hope you check that out!

I also mentioned in my video, but wanted to point out that I used Beacon Adhesives Fabri-Tac to make sure that my stuff stays stuck!!

And, I loved making this wall hanging so much, I am making a few more to make a set. Here is the second one I made:

"Imagine" Wall Hanging

I used the same exact techniques on this one. I used more papers from the main kit, and some of my own wood roses.

Here are some close ups:

Here is my video on how to create this wall hanging and using the gelatos:
