Welcome to Swirlydoos' March Kit Reveal Blog Hop Block Party!!

If you came here from Lisa Gregory's blog, then you are on the right track. If not, go back to Swirlydoos' blog and start from there. We have some amazing projects for you to see today and as a bonus we have 2 manufacturer blogs that are joining in the fun and a 3rd manufacturer offering a prize!! There are 4 prize packs up for grabs so make sure to follow along and have fun!!

"Adore" Layout
This month it's my turn to host the March Swirlyhues, and this is my example using this month's "French Quarter" kit. The picture is of my paternal grandmother. It went so well with this kit, I just had to use it! I used a deep distressing technique on the main paper (You can find this technique in the tutorial section of the Swirlydoos forum.), and inked it with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. The punching on the green velvet paper was done with the Martha Stewart Vintage Floral Punch Around the Page. I only used the corner punch on the vertical strips on the ends, and the border on both sides of the horizontal strip. The green vines are Dusty Attic chipboard- I painted then with old clumpy white paint, then used Glimmer Mist and Smooch Spritz to get the green color.

 "Forever and Ever" Layout
So this is my take on the monthly sketch. I used wet distressing on the background paper. I FINALLY figured out how to do this without messing up my paper, or getting "out of control" results! I just cut out a 10X10 square of cardstock, then placed it on the paper I was wet distressing as a guide for shaping the paper. I just distressed, misted and layered the rest of the cardstock pieces and papers, nothing overly fancy or complicated. The circle around the pic is a border strip that I mitered and placed on the back of the picture. The blooms are Petaloo, and the brown vines are Prima. The green vines are a die cut by Cheery Lynne Designs.
The picture is of me and my son, Owen. He LOVES to watch Pooh and the ending is his favorite part, so I decided to make the phrase before the song the title.

"Remember" Layout
There is one piece of pink patterned paper in the kit, and it fits in with the rest of the kit so perfectly. I used the Martha Stewart Vintage Floral punch around the edges of the background paper, then cut that out and flipped the paper around to use the sheet music side. I used some of the burlap printed paper inside the metal trinket, added "Us", then glued down the bauble with Glossy Accents. I finished it off by tying a bow through the hole using the May Arts ribbon that came in this month's embellishment kit. I painted the Dusty Attic chipboard word with Smooch- first with Tuxedo, then a pink to make dots. The dress form has gesso, then pink distress stain, and pink Glimmer Mist.
The picture is of me and my daughter, Audra, taken a couple of years ago on Mother's Day.

"My Rose" Layout
This picture of my cat, Rosie, who passed a while ago really went well with these papers. I actually lifted the layering part of this from one of my older layouts. The layers are distressed and inked with black chalk ink. I used the Martha Stewart Iron Gate punch on the black velvet paper for the photo mat. The tag with the title is from this month's project kit. I used brown distress stain on the edges, then put an eyelet on the end, and used the extra strands of burlap that I took off of the tag to put through the eyelet. The rose frame is from the Bling kit. The alphas are from my stash- Making Memories Diva font.

I hope enjoyed peeking at my projects!
You have until midnight, eastern time, on March 15th to complete the hop. Winners will be announced on the Swirlydoos Blog on March 16th. In order to qualify to win here is what you need to do:
1: Visit all of the blogs and leave a comment on each. This way we know you were there. Become a follower if you're not already. Take your time. There are beautiful things to see along the way.
